We are proud to provide exceptional care at Parkway Sleep Health Centers. Our board-certified doctor and team of experienced sleep specialists are here to help patients find the proper treatment for a variety of sleep disorders. Patients will receive a thorough consultation with a physician that will answer any sleep health questions our patients may have, as well as perform any needed diagnostic tests. Depending on the results of the diagnostic testing and diagnosis, you may be paired with a type of machine to better improve your sleep; such machines can include a CPAP, BiPAP, ASV, or an APAP machine. Our doctor will go through what to expect and how to use your machine to receive optimal results. Parkway is also proud to offer our patients telehealth appointments for your convenience!
What is a sleep study, and is it necessary? It’s a non-invasive, overnight exam that allows our doctor to monitor our patients while they sleep to see activity in your brain. The study helps us identify particular sleep disorders and conditions that may require further treatment. During the study, we place a few sensors on the face, scalp, chest, limbs, and one finger, along with elastic belts placed along your chest and abdomen.
Based on this diagnostic protocol and assessment period, we create a personalized therapeutic action plan, which may include CPAP therapy. Performing sleep studies can be beneficial for patients needing to identify their sleep problems or condition. A sleep study may also benefit patients who want to confirm whether a current treatment plan has been effective or improved their condition.
Most parents – if not all – have experienced sleepless nights from their little one fussing from not wanting to sleep; but, unfortunately, there are cases of children who are unable to have a proper night’s rest because of undiagnosed sleep disorders. During a pediatric sleep study, a series of belts and sensors will be attached to the child’s head, near the nose, mouth, chest, abdomen, finger, and legs – completely painless!
This equipment measures your child’s breathing and sleep patterns. Although sleep disorders may sound harmless, lack of sleep can lead to chronic health issues that last well into adulthood. If you suspect your child may have a sleep disorder, consider Parkway Sleep Health Centers for a sleep study. We take the utmost care with all of our patients, and focus on ensuring the little ones are as comfortable as possible in order to accurately diagnose and treat your child’s condition.
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the most popular treatment for sleep apnea. People wear an airway mask or nasal mask while sleeping, directing positive airflow through the nasal passage or throat to keep the airway open. Studies have shown that CPAP improves daytime alertness, particularly for those who suffer from mild to extreme sleep apnea.
There are a variety of machines other than the CPAP – such as BiPAP, ASV, and APAP – that may be a better fit for your sleeping issues. These also come with a variety of attachments and masks tailored to suit your sleep habits and needs: a nasal mask, nasal pillow mask, full mask, and movable tubing, which are necessary to customize your machine and maximize usage.
When you buy CPAP equipment at Parkway SleepHealth, the doctor will go over the daily instructions on how to use and care for your machine, plus each function. Your treatment plan with your CPAP machine can be dependent on diagnosis, so make sure to follow all directions carefully.
A CPAP machine – short for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine – provides consistent air pressure in order to help you maintain a constant open airway. Contact us now for help with your CPAP purchase.
BiPAP uses non-invasive mechanized, pressurized ventilation on a time or flow basis to pivot between two levels of applied positive airway pressure.
APAP refers to automatic postitive airflow pressure. It automatically adjusts to the user’s breathing patterns periodically, versus CPAP which delivers a continuous flow.
We help you sort through all the face, nose, chin, nasal pillow, and mask weight options for your particular CPAP, APAP, or BiPAP machine with the goal of getting your mask choice right the first time around.
ASV stands for adaptive servo-ventilation. ASV machines track and adjust air pressure to match your breathing patterns on an automated basis.
We have everything you need to keep your machine running smoothly, from a selection of masks to cleaning supplies. We strive to provide one-stop convenience when it comes to all things CPAP!
