Parkway SleepHealth Centers Earns Accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine

National Recognition Validates Compassionate Care Model, Innovative Therapy for Sleep Disorders

May 24,2012 (Cary, N.C.) The Triangle’s innovative leader in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, Parkway SleepHealth Centers, is proud to announce it has earned formal accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

In granting the accreditation, the nationally renowned organization recognizes Parkway as a significant resource to the local medical community in the Triangle in addition to providing the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders.

“AASM carefully studied our innovative therapy and compassionate care model for correctly identifying health threats such as obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and insomnia which have helped thousands of patients in Cary, Raleigh and Garner,” Donna Manjorin, LPN, RPSGT, Practice Director for Parkway SleepHealth Centers said.

According to Manjorin, the almost year-long accreditation process included detailed evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training as well as a thorough inspection of Parkway’s state-of-the-art sleep center facility and staff. With the AASM accreditation, Parkway SleepHealth Centers now accepts patients using Medicare to cover their initial consultation and treatment.

Parkway’s unique compassionate care model includes a team of hands-on medical professionals led by Dr. Khaleel Ahmed, M.D., who is fully trained in the field of sleep apnea. They are the only independent sleep disorder treatment provider in the area giving thorough, proper diagnosis to people who can’t sleep through a face-to-face evaluation with a certified in-house sleep physician.

“Whereas a patient complaining to his or her primary physician about restless legs may get recommended treatment for their symptoms without addressing their core problem, we make sure patients aren’t suffering from other, sometimes dangerous ailments, Dr. Ahmed said, adding, “They’re not just not automatically getting a mask and being told they have sleep apnea.”

Parkway is at the forefront of innovative diagnosis and treatment techniques for over 80 different sleep issues, using tools and approaches like Actigraphy and neurofeedback, and is the Triangle’s exclusive one-stop-shop for prescription and fulfillment of the innovative Provent sleep apnea treatment alternative to CPAP.

Headquartered in Cary, Parkway has satellite offices in Raleigh and Garner. For more information, visit www.parkwaysleep.com.
