Parkway SleepHealth receives Cary Chamber Innovation Award

June 6, 2012 (Cary, N.C.) The Triangle’s innovative leader in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, Parkway SleepHealth Centers, is adding to its growing list of professional accolades with a 2012 Annual Excellence Award from the Cary Chamber of Commerce.

Parkway was announced as winner in the “Innovation” category at the Cary Chamber Awards Banquet held in May at the Embassy Suites in Cary.

“Our talented staff has worked incredibly hard to make Parkway the Triangle’s reliable go-to experts on providing all-inclusive health management solution for men, women, and children suffering from sleep disorders,” said Parkway’s Operations Manager Brent Brandow.

The Cary Chamber’s Small Business Awards are given each year to businesses that have been in business for at least two years, have fewer than 50 employees and are privately held. Businesses are judged on innovation, success, community service and work environment, with awards recognizing companies who through creativity, innovation and a drive for success make an impact on the local business community and the people that they work with.

Brandow said Parkway’s award as Innovative Business of 2012 reflects the organization’s efforts to research and implement new advances in sleep disorder treatment, pointing to Parkway’s development of a state-of-the-art Family Suites sleep testing center in Cary, active involvement in cutting-edge healthcare industry groups, national accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), and strong relationships with primary physicians across the Triangle.

“Our goal is to understand the changing needs of patients and look for effective treatments, whatever they may be,” he explained.

Technology-based treatments like actigraphy and neurofeedback are examples of new approaches Parkway is taking with patients, as well as responding to patient demand for new ways to deal with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Although continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is still the gold standard for treating OSA, this particular treatment requires bulky masks and noisy equipment.

For an alternative to CPAP, Parkway has established itself as the Triangle’s exclusive one-stop-shop for prescription and fulfillment of the innovative Provent sleep apnea treatment system. Provent is a new clinically proven treatment for OSA and snoring which consists of an unobtrusive, easy-to-manage device attaching over the nostrils with a hypoallergenic adhesive. It’s small, disposable, and 100% portable, making it discreet and very convenient to take along on trips without the need to worry about having an electrical outlet next to your bed. Parkway’s full-time, in-house board certified M.D. on staff makes it the only independent sleep diagnosis and treatment center in the Triangle where patients can come in, get a prescription for Provent, and get their prescription filled all in one convenient visit.

“The response we’re getting from patients using this treatment is overwhelming — in many cases it’s a real life-changer,” said Brandow.

Parkway’s team of hands-on medical professionals is committed to providing individualized diagnosis and treatment as we strive to positively affect the quality of medical care in the Triangle. Fully accredited by AASM, Parkway SleepHealth Centers now accepts patients using Medicare to cover their initial consultation and treatment.

Headquartered in Cary, Parkway has satellite offices in Raleigh and Garner. For more information, visit www.parkwaysleep.com.

Parkway SleepHealth Centers Earns Accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine

National Recognition Validates Compassionate Care Model, Innovative Therapy for Sleep Disorders

May 24,2012 (Cary, N.C.) The Triangle’s innovative leader in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, Parkway SleepHealth Centers, is proud to announce it has earned formal accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

In granting the accreditation, the nationally renowned organization recognizes Parkway as a significant resource to the local medical community in the Triangle in addition to providing the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders.

“AASM carefully studied our innovative therapy and compassionate care model for correctly identifying health threats such as obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and insomnia which have helped thousands of patients in Cary, Raleigh and Garner,” Donna Manjorin, LPN, RPSGT, Practice Director for Parkway SleepHealth Centers said.

According to Manjorin, the almost year-long accreditation process included detailed evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training as well as a thorough inspection of Parkway’s state-of-the-art sleep center facility and staff. With the AASM accreditation, Parkway SleepHealth Centers now accepts patients using Medicare to cover their initial consultation and treatment.

Parkway’s unique compassionate care model includes a team of hands-on medical professionals led by Dr. Khaleel Ahmed, M.D., who is fully trained in the field of sleep apnea. They are the only independent sleep disorder treatment provider in the area giving thorough, proper diagnosis to people who can’t sleep through a face-to-face evaluation with a certified in-house sleep physician.

“Whereas a patient complaining to his or her primary physician about restless legs may get recommended treatment for their symptoms without addressing their core problem, we make sure patients aren’t suffering from other, sometimes dangerous ailments, Dr. Ahmed said, adding, “They’re not just not automatically getting a mask and being told they have sleep apnea.”

Parkway is at the forefront of innovative diagnosis and treatment techniques for over 80 different sleep issues, using tools and approaches like Actigraphy and neurofeedback, and is the Triangle’s exclusive one-stop-shop for prescription and fulfillment of the innovative Provent sleep apnea treatment alternative to CPAP.
